Position: Education Coordinator

The Oak Hill School in San Anselmo, California seeks an experienced, motivated, and highly qualified individual to join our professional staff. Oak Hill is a small, non-public school, serving students age 6-22 with autism and other developmental differences. Through strong therapeutic relationships we sensitively observe and adapt individualized academic and behavioral instruction for students.

Position Overview The Education Coordinator (EC) assists the Director of School Programs to provide and evaluate and integrated educational and therapeutic program for students, working closely with teachers and classroom staff to implement the students goals and objectives as outlined in Individual Education Plans, EC is responsible for training classroom staff, creating and implementing data collection systems and providing educational quality assurance and behavioral support to student programming. The EC is the direct supervisor of all assigned teachers, the primary education and behavioral resource to assigned classrooms and is responsible for monitoring and ensuring classroom and site adherence to all state mandated and internal procedures for quality service.

The EC is the direct supervisor of all assigned teaching staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, Social Science or the equivalent ( Master's Degree preferable)
  • Current mild -moderate, or moderate-severe California teaching credential with autism certification
  • Familiarity with special education procedures, including the development, implementation, and assessment of IEP's and Behavior Support Plans
  • Three years classroom experience working with neurodiverse students
  • Three years experience working with students who display challenging behaviors
  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Must pass a state and FBI background check
  • Must have a valid California issued driver's license and be able to gain clearance to drive school vehicles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in the development of new IEP's and progress reports
  • Support in monitoring that curriculum is consistent with student IEP
  • Provide quality assurance reviews of all IEP's and progress reports in assigned classrooms/case loads
  • Serve as administrator at IEP meetings
  • Monitor the completion and presentation of student program data and classroom records at the IEP meeting and in progress reports
  • Assist in the development of Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Assist in the development of educational and behavioral data systems
  • Assist int he preparation of material required for behavioral management programs as needed
  • Conduct bi-monthly individual teacher supervisor meetings
  • Contribute to the agenda of all teacher and therapist meetings
  • Provide teachers and classroom staff ongoing positive and corrective feedback
  • Assist in the development of staff trainings and training procedures
  • Complete and/or support in the finalization of all staff evaluations as assigned
  • Implement disciplinary procedures as needed in conjunction with the Director of School Programs ad HR/Administration Director
  • Attend and participate in all administrative meetings
  • Adhere to all Oak Hill School policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, psychology, behavioral Sciences, Human Services, social Science or the equivalent ( Master's Degree preferable)
  • Current California Education Specialist teaching credential (Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Severe
  • Three years classroom experience working with neurodiverse students
  • Three years experience working with student who display challenging behaviors
  • A minimum of two years supervisory experience
  • A valid California issued driver's license
  • Knowledge and competency using Google Suite
  • Understanding/use of Unique Learning Systems curriculum
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including public speaking
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation competency
  • Skilled in providing and receiving feedback
  • High level of integrity, collaboration,flexibility and judgement/decision making

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Working and engaging/playing with our students require a considerable amount of
strength and physical movement. Employees must be able to perform the following movement functions as needed.

Regularly

  • Sitting-Resting position
  • Exert up to 20 lbs. of force to move objects or equipment and to work/play with students
  • Motor Skills such as picking, pinching or otherwise working primarily with fingers as in handling, typing or writing

Frequently

  • Standing for sustained periods of time
  • Walking/Running to accomplish tasks, for long distances for community outings or moving form one classroom/office to another. Running required for potential emergency situations
