In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. Summary:
This position will provide engineering services to a broad range of customer sponsored projects within the Global Security organization and focus on one of the following key technology areas.
  • Electronic and Electrical Reverse Engineering
  • Electrical Design, Fabrication, and Assembly of Custom Electronic Products
  • Microelectronic Design, Fabrication, and Assembly
  • Pulsed Power Electronic Applications
  • Radio Frequency Applications
  • System Engineering and Integration
  • Verification and Validation, Electrical and Environmental Testing, and Analysis

This position will perform the following duties in support of key technology areas.
  • Executes product design and development through all phases of the product lifecycle from conception to production sustainment
  • Conducts research into new technologies and processes
  • Designs electrical products, components, tools, and acceptance equipment to meet specific requirements
  • Creates robust technical data packages from design concepts (schematics, drawings, specifications, etc.)
  • Performs and analyzes routine to moderately complex engineering functions, applying mathematical, physical science, and engineering technologies
  • Follows established procedures in completing multiple technical assignments
  • Develops test plans and procedures, performs routine to moderately complex engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, product or project data reviews, and other engineering evaluation work to assure product design and manufacturability
  • Interacts with customers, design agencies, suppliers, and internal organizations to assist in resolving design, development, production, and acceptance issues
  • Evaluates opportunities for defect prevention based on standard or accepted technical practices and implements preventive corrective actions
  • Partners with technicians and other engineers to mentor and solve complex problems with novel solutions
  • Uses Agile methodology in executing work scope.
  • Some domestic travel to partner sites may be required < 10%
  • May perform other duties as required

You Must Have:
  • U.S. citizenship needed to obtain and maintain required US Dept of Energy Q·level security clearance
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution/program or Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from an accredited program
  • Four (4) or more years of experience in Engineering or related technical activities, such as product development, research, or environmental/qualification/verification testing
We Value:
  • Existing DOE Q·Clearance desirable
  • Experience with electronics design, circuit card assemblies, digital and/or analog design
  • Experience with cables, wiring harnesses, interconnection diagrams and modeling
  • Experience with microcontrollers or digital signal processor
  • System modeling with SysML, UML
  • Experience with Environmental Test
  • Ability to apply advanced design, development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to complex engineering projects
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision with latitude for independent action and decision making
  • Experience interacting with and presenting to multiple levels of technical stakeholders and customers
  • Experience connecting design to manufacturing, driving consistency, reliability and producibility
  • Interest in and willingness to undertake variety of engineering assignments
