Summary
The Emerging Field Data Manager supports the National Manager, Safety Evaluation and Assessment and Data Evaluation Team (DET) by identifying at an early stage any emerging potential safety and noncompliance issues through Kia’s Safety Data Analytics Infrastructure (SDAI) system and other supporting applications. This position will also support safety and noncompliance recall decision-making process and support requests related to NHTSA inquiries, investigations, and meeting preparation.
This position will lead a team of Emerging Field Data Specialists and ensure consistent and detailed screening of potential safety issue alerts. The position will coordinate the escalation of alerts and associated screening results to the Field Data Analysis Manager and Engineers for further evaluation, as well as to preliminary investigative work by the Forensic Engineering & Investigations team. Preliminary data analysis actions related to automated alerts received via the SDAI system and ad-hoc alerts received from other Safety Office personnel, other departments, and Kia affiliates. The position will also identify, collaborate, and follow up on alerting improvement actions related to potential safety issues that were found outside of the alerting system.
Major Responsibilities
1st Priority - 25%
Supervise and provide feedback regarding alert screening work performed by the Emerging Field Data Specialists to ensure consistent and efficient escalation of potential safety and noncompliance issues. Ensure accurate and complete data is provided for other members of the Data Evaluation Team and the Forensic Engineering & Investigations team.
2nd Priority - 20%
Coordinate handoff and collaborative work with the Field Data Analysis team upon escalation of alerts. Provide NM, Safety Evaluation & Assessment and Field Data Analysis Manager with prompt notification of urgent potential safety and noncompliance issues.
3rd Priority - 20%
Identify alerting improvement opportunities and collaborate with Safety Analytics Manager to revise SDAI alerting parameters. Follow up on changes to ensure enhanced efficiency has been achieved.
4th Priority - 20%
Perform detailed screening of potential safety issue alerts and escalate relevant alerts for further data analysis and/or investigation. Work from SDAI dashboards to identify frequency, severity, and detectability of alerted issues.
5th Priority - 15%
Collaborate with Field Data Analysis Manager and Engineers to ensure consistent and effective monitoring parameters.
Education/Certification
- BS degree in Engineering or Automotive Technology or equivalent work experience required.
Overall Experience
- 5-10 years of technical experience in automotive technical positions such as safety analysis, product quality, technical customer assistance, or in another automotive engineering environment.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
- Written and oral technical communications experience.
Directly Related Experience
- Automotive, aerospace, commercial vehicle, or similar technical work experience required.
- Experience applying statistical analysis concepts and software required.
- Experience analyzing field complaint, claim, and quality data required.
- Experience supporting engineering, quality, safety, or statistical analysis required.
- Employee supervisory experience required.
- Computer programming (including SAS, Tableau, SQL, and Power BI) a plus.
Other Requirements:
- Schedule(s) may vary due to needs of the business including but not limited to working outside of normal business hours, travel, weekends and/or holidays.

Pay Range
$95,200.00 - $128,500.00
Pay will be based on several variables that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, etc.
