Job Summary:

The Entertainment Stage Technician will have the experience of watching Guests react as they are transported by live shows, parades, and spectaculars across The Walt Disney World Resort. As an Entertainment Stage Technician, you will install and operate the lighting, pyrotechnics, props, audio, video, automation and rigging for dozens of live shows taking place across our Parks and Resorts on a daily basis.

The starting pay rate for this role is $18.00 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Mix live audio for bands
  • Load and fire pyrotechnics for our nighttime spectaculars
  • Repair props used in our lives shows
  • Program and operate lighting console for live shows and special events
  • Load in and operate equipment for conventions and special events
  • Manage inventory and repair high end gear and support entertainment warehouses

  • Full-time availability for a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to operate, program, troubleshoot, clean, and maintain equipment for theatrical and live entertainment venues
  • Solid understanding of theatrical terminology and documentation
  • Ability to work in a physically active environment, and in inclement and/or extreme weather conditions outdoors
  • Can easily handle a physically demanding role that requires frequent lifting, climbing, squatting, and standing for extended periods
  • Valid United States driver’s license and reliable transportationTechnology savvy with at least a basic understanding of electrical and data signal flow
Audio
  • Live Mixing (Front of House or monitors)
  • Experience setting up and tearing down audio gear (speakers, instruments, etc.)
Lighting
  • Read and implement lighting plots
  • Understand basic lighting principles
  • Knowledge of electrical systems
  • Experience programming light consoles
Networking/IT
  • Comprehension of networking and IT principles
  • Experience with entertainment networking system
Pyrotechnics/Special Effects
  • Willing to obtain FL CDL and pass ATFE background for handing pyrotechnics
Properties and Puppets
  • Portfolio submission of recent work
Rigging
  • Climb ladders, stairs and work in various elevations
  • Experience rigging overhead equipment for theatre, television, touring, etc
Show Support Warehouse
  • Wiling to obtain FL CDL
  • Operate heavy equipment such as a Roll Loader, Forklift, Scissor Lift and WAVe lift
Video
  • Experience building and operating video system from scratch
  • Experience in multiple areas of Video setup and operation (i.e. switching, graphics, editing, etc)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years live entertainment experience in increasing roles of responsibility
  • Leadership experience
  • Advanced networking and computer skills
  • Show controls and automation skills
  • Vendor certification on repair of equipment
Audio
  • Two (2) years live band front of house and monitor mixing
  • Proficient in programming and operating consoles
  • Experience with programming and certifications in Q-SYS and Dante
Lighting
  • Advanced lighting console programming
  • Intelligent light programming and repair
Networking/IT
  • Q-SYS Certification
  • Live event theatre experience
Properties and Puppets
  • Experience repairing existing puppets and props as well as building from scratch
  • Recreate item based on template or mold
Pyrotechnics and Special Effects
  • Experience pyrotechnic firing programming and operation experience
  • Warehouse and inventory management experience
  • Experience installing, running and maintaining any of the following systems:
    • Snow machines
    • Foggers/LSG
    • Bubble machine
Rigging
  • ETCP certification
Show Control and Automation
  • Programming experience of show control system for live shows
Show Support Warehouse
  • Experience working in a warehouse with inventory management system
Video
  • Projection mapping
  • Media server proficiency
  • Live event and broadcast experience
