BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: The Unified Government Public Health Department is seeking a highly detail oriented and independent individual to be Lead Poisoning Environmental Health Specialist who will conduct Healthy Homes Inspections in residential homes to identify environmental safety hazards and develop action plans that align with federal and state guidelines. Monitor elevated blood lead levels for Wyandotte County and report activities in KDHE’s surveillance system. Maintain relationships with healthcare providers to provide education and health services related to lead poisoning to residents in Wyandotte County. This candidate must have excellent time management skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in public health, construction management, environmental science, or experience in housing rehab. Must have a strong written and verbal communication skills; bilingual Spanish strongly preferred. Proficient with computers and software applications such as MS word and MS Excel. Must possess a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation. Must have the ability to obtain the following certifications: Lead Inspector. Qualifications must be approved by HUD Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control.

Must have reliable personal transportation and a valid KS driver’s license. A background check and drug screen will be conducted on the selected candidate. Must reside in Wyandotte County or relocate to the county within 12 months of hire. Benefits package.

Pay: $18.41 - $28.58 per hour
