Primary Purpose of Position
Managing the external functions of the Department of Athletics including marketing, media relations and ticket operations.

Summary of Position Responsibilities
Serves on the Athletic Director’s Executive Management Team by overseeing the external functions of the department, with an emphasis on revenue generation, messaging, and branding. Will oversee multiple units including marketing, ticket operations, media relations, digital production, and multi-media rights. Will work closely with the 49ers Athletic Foundation on the development and execution of premium seating sales and other key fundraising initiatives.

The duties listed below are primary to the position but not limited to:
  • Serve as a primary advisor to the Director of Athletics on major organizational decisions.
  • Serve as Chief Revenue Officer. Enhance and create new revenue streams primarily related to ticket sales, sponsorships, and the development of a new premium seating strategy in concert with facility expansion.
  • Serve as liaison to multii-media rights holder (Learfield). Negotiate terms of contracts and agreements and help facilitate sponsorship sales and execution. Manage a budget of approximately $1.3 million.
  • Serve as Chief Brand Officer. Ensure the brand is cohesive and consistent among all sports. Gatekeeper to any external use of Charlotte 49ers athletic name/logo.
  • Oversee marketing and promotions department
  • Oversee media relations services and develop a comprehensive communications plan for the department, including coordination of executive messaging.
  • Oversee video production services, including the growth and development of live stream productions on ESPN+.
  • Supervise 2 sports to be determined.

Minimum Education/Experience
Master’s degree preferred or Bachelor’s with equivalent experience. Previous marketing and external relations experience within a collegiate athletic department required.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
