Occ Summary
Independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patientsin accordance with physician orders and establ ishedpolicies andprocedures. Provide nursingservices to patients and fam ilies inaccordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Caro linaBoard ofNursing.
Work Performed
Plan, provide, su pervise and document professional nursing careutilizing the nursing proc essfor patients in accordance with physicianorders and established polic ies and procedures. Use professional nursingjudgment to individualize th eplan of care based on assessment of thepatient's baseline needs and res ponse to care.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licen sed andunlicensed care providers.Assist other nursing personnel in the d elivery of nursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a grou pof patients or an entire unitas assigned.Monitor and initiate correctiv eaction to maintain the environment ofcare including equipment and mater ial resources.Participate in own professional development by maintaining requiredcompetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.Act as preceptor and support the dev elopment of other staff and formallearners.Participate in the identifica tion of clinical or operational performanceimprovement opportunities and in performance improvement activities.Perform other related duties incid ental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN program. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within five years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.
Experience
Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
