The Kent State Trumbull Campus invites applicants for a Full Time Non-Tenure Track position in Technical Theatre, emphasis on technical direction.
Additional Basic Function – if applicable:
Primary responsibilities include managing the design, construction, and installation of scenery, and creation of scenic, lighting, sound, and properties design for departmental productions, and teaching technical theatre classes. Responsible for the upkeep of production spaces, tools, and materials. This is a twelve-month appointment that combines teaching with technical direction of the campus theatre season with the possibility of additional design work.
Examples of Duties:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Teach courses in technical theatre at the undergraduate level; technical direction and shop supervision for the campus theatre season; mentor and supervise student designers and technicians; remain conversant with the theatre industry as a whole; perform appropriate university service. Credit load for FTNTT faculty is 15 credits per semester, with 12 allocated for production work with the campus theatre. The theatre season is around 4-5 mainstage shows a year.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in technical theatre with sufficient professional experience to teach courses at the undergraduate level. Experience as a technical director or with theatrical shop supervision and construction.
Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:
MFA in Technical Theatre. Evidence of effective collegiate teaching at the undergraduate level. Evidence of effective leadership, collegiality, communication, and collaborative skills. The ability to integrate diversity and multicultural perspective in teaching and work with students.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent must be able to work evenings and weekends, and to travel on and off-campus. Incumbent should be able to operate all tools commonly found in a theatrical scene shop.
