Job Summary:
Job Title: Family Practice Physician (With ED Experience)
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Conducting physical exams and medical histories of patients to diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries
· Prescribing medications and other treatments, and monitoring patients' progress
· Providing preventive care, such as immunizations and screenings
· Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and laboratory tests
· Referring patients to specialists as needed
· Managing patients with chronic conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension
· Providing health education and counseling to patients and their families
· Responding to medical emergencies in the ED and providing life-saving interventions as needed
· Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, pharmacists, and social workers
· Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring patient confidentiality
Qualifications
1. The Candidate should have one of the following:
· Current American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM)
· American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM)
· Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Internal Medicine
2. The Candidate should also have a documented Emergency Department experience within the last 24 months of hire with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the management of pediatric and obstetric patients, including obstetrical emergencies, such as precipitous deliveries.
3. The Candidate should have one of the following:
· 3000 hours or more of clinical experience within the last 24 months of hire in an Emergency Department with an annual volume of at least 18,000 and a combined admission/transfer rate of at least 10%;
· 5000 hours or more of clinical experience within the previous 60 months of hire, and 1000 hours or more within the last 12 months in an Emergency Department with an annual volume of at least 18,000 and a combined admission/transfer rate of at least 10%.
Licensure: Must hold a current and valid medical license in the state where they practice.
Training Requirements:
· Electronic Health Record (EHR), IHS Privacy and Information Security Awareness and Rules of Behavior, IHS Privacy and HIPAA, Cultural Sensitivity Training, and Prevention of Workplace Harassment/No Fear
· BLS/ACLS/ATLS/PALS/NRP
Skills: Strong clinical skills, including the ability to make quick and accurate diagnoses, perform medical procedures, and manage critically ill patients.
Communication skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and other medical professionals.
