Inside the Role
Do you want to work for a leader in the trucking industry? Do you like to be part of a team but work independently? As a Field Sales Engineer you will be responsible for promotion of Detroit Branded components for Freightliner and Western Star products. You will help retail sales outlets improve customer bottom lines through use of Detroit components. You will drive trucks to support training and troubleshooting. You will get to analyze, prepare and present technical data to dealers, end users and internal colleagues. You will work with dealers and internal team to provide dedicated fuel economy support to top accounts in your district (Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Western Idaho).

Position offers a starting salary range of $110,500 - $141,500 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Work remotely out of the assigned sales district to serve as a technical consultant to Freightliner and Western Star dealers and internal truck sales team on all Detroit branded components in district
  • Travel 50% within territory, and 15% outside of territory
  • Continuously train on current and new products
  • Work closely with On-Highway and Vocational District Sales Managers in your territory to support current sales opportunities and highest priorities for dealer sales team
  • Provide voice of customer feedback to marketing and strategy to support current and future product enhancements
  • Conduct annual training with all dealers in assigned AOR on Detroit components, Powertrain, Connect services, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
  • Support dealer sales team on vehicle spec’ing to ensure correct engines, axles and transmissions are selected to meet performance and fuel economy needs
  • Support Marketing initiatives including trade shows and association events
  • Investigate and qualify customer performance and fuel economy concerns. Coordinate involvement by dealer and factory personnel to identify causes for customer concerns and to communicate Daimler’s assessment of situations and corrective action recommendations
  • Act as a consultant to fleets to help them optimize truck fuel economy and performance
  • Facilitate Detroit component orientation to drivers and fleet managers upon delivery of new trucks with Detroit components.
  • Coordinate and support plant tours for customers/dealers within area of responsibility
  • Support pilot and specification reviews. Act as Detroit component expert within assigned geographic territory

Knowledge You Should Bring
  • BS/BA and prefer 5-7 years of relevant experience or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree required
  • Commercial Driver's License CDL (Class A) or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire required
  • Candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate to Oregon, Northern California, Washington, Alaska, or Western Idaho required
  • Ability to travel Travel 50% within territory, and 15% outside of territory required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word required
  • Presentation and Sales skills required
  • Analytical skills required

Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • Technical Degree (Science, Engineering, Technology) or relevant experience preferred
  • Commercial Vehicle Industry experience preferred
  • Field experience preferred
