Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
This is an entry-level position. The individual is responsible for performing calibration and preventative maintenance (PM) on weighing and wrapping equipment without assistance, within the respective Business Area. This individual will be required to more frequently utilize resources such as technical support, mentors, or other training materials to complete these tasks. May be required to assist others on installations, projects, and/or repairs as necessary, but would not be able to perform repairs or installations independently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform PC networking & software configuration
  • Performs calibrations and preventative maintenance duties according to METTLER TOLEDO procedures and customer requirements.
  • Assists and cooperates with Scheduling Analyst and Service Support Team as
  • Is proactive in promoting and selling services and products. Submitting sales leads at a level commensurate with experience is required.
  • Maintains inventory levels as assigned by SBU and maintains appropriate accuracy and control overstocked items.
  • Works to ensure customer uptime requirements are met and that all work assignments are completed on time.
  • Accurately completes and submits all required paperwork daily as required via company issued Laptop PC in a professional manner
  • Maintains a close professional relationship with external/internal customers, sales, technicians, and leaders.
  • Works to ensure an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork with field and service support colleagues.
  • Must comply with the Company Fleet policy.
  • Accurately submits Weights & Measures paperwork to state/county promptly.
  • On-call rotation is required to support Mettler Toledo's customer base.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, competency, behavior, and/or ability required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED with an aptitude in the areas of Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Technology, or Computer Science or equivalent education and experience in a technical support role, technical troubleshooting, or technical installation of electronics or electromechanical technology.
  • Associate's degree (AA) with a technical major or equivalent from a two-year College preferred, or related job experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Customer-facing or field service experience preferred. Commercial experience desired.
  • Network + or A plus certification preferred.
  • Must have a basic understanding of electrical and mechanical repair philosophies including: a basic understanding of PC networking & software configuration; understanding of router, switch, AP, and service/client relationships and LAN structure.
  • 1 – 3 years of electro /mechanical repair or weighing industry experience required.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Weights & Measure license for the assigned service area.
  • Demonstrate skill in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Be capable of learning proprietary software and be able to review and update information using METTLER TOLEDO programs.
  • Basic understanding of PC networking & software configuration. Understand router, switch, AP, server/client relationship, LAN structure, and how they work together.
  • The physical demands described in the Physical Requirements form are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Overnight travel is required and may be up to 25% on avg.; but could be as high as 50% depending on business needs.
  • This position will require you to reside within 30 miles of the service territory.
  • Employees are to travel primarily via the Company assigned vehicle but may be required to travel by plane or ferry.
  • Overtime requirement is in the range of 10 – 15% on average but may be as high as 25% in a given time period.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to hazards in the work site including, but not limited to, chemicals and solvents, vehicle traffic, and machinery. In addition, they may be exposed to moving parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Exposure to dust, dirt, cold work environments, and fumes varies from work site to work site.
  • Special protective equipment and clothing may be required.
  • You may be working at a customer location that requires up-to-date vaccinations and/or testing. If that's the case, you will be required to provide proof.
