The Neil Jones Food Company is looking for a seasonal Filler Operator Pouch I at our Toma-Tek facility in Firebaugh, CA. The Neil Jones Food Company processes superior quality, fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. With headquarters in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 35 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.
Summary: Operation of the Cryovac Fillers, Imaje Printer, Video Jet and Checkweigher equipment. Maintains the integrity of the pouch seals. Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Safety, Health Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations are being followed at all times. This is a seasonal, non-exempt, union position, supporting our fresh pack season, typically June – October.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurate completion of filler operator documentation and required paper work.
- Ensures that the code is correct and is clearly printing in accordance with the Pouch Operation Sheet.
- Consistent monitoring of pouches being produced for defects.
- Verifies proper size (length) & weights of pouches being produced are in accordance with the Pouch Operations Sheet.
- Verifies End Seal, Center Seal and temperature settings are set according to film type and ensures correct film is being used according to the MSP at all times.
Requirements:
- Requires a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), or at least one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Requires the ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak English to perform the essential duties.
- Requires the ability to work with minimum supervision and have good communication skills.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
Compensation:
The hourly union wage is $16.53.
