The Opportunity

We have the opportunity for you to join our team as a Part Time (Wednesday to Friday) Finance Assistant on a 12-month Fixed term contract. This is a great opportunity for someone who wishes to build their knowledge and develop a career within Finance. As the Finance Assistant you will report into the Financial Accountant and will be the supporting team member for this role within the business. This will include accounts receivable work, balance sheet reconciliation, P & L work and supporting the Financial Accountant with tax and insurance returns. There will be various reporting deadlines throughout the week and year which you will need to deliver to. In return you will be supported and developed to feel confident in many aspects of accounting within an FMCG setting. In this role you will be:

  • Purchasing super user, training new users and ensuring best practice throughout the business. Working on invoice rejections to improve payment performance and making sure we pay to terms where possible
  • Purchase invoice/order corrections. Cancellation of Purchase orders, receipting and amending. Continuous improvement on invoice rejections so that we improve our payments to suppliers. Management of invoice rejection log to track common issues.
  • Produce the weekly debt & GDNI report, chasing up any queries from customers to ensure timely payment which improves cash flow. This role manages GDNI, the report is about driving action within the business to ensure that things are being invoiced as quickly as possible.
  • To support the sales invoicing function, including the timely and accurate processing of invoices onto the accounting system and assistance with associated sales queries and issues. Weekly invoicing to customers. This role also chasing customers for purchase order numbers where required so that invoices can be raised.
  • To ensure adherence to all relevant internal controls, particularly around the Approval Authority document and any payments made
  • Responsible for the preparation of accruals balance sheet reconciliations
  • To assist with any other ad-hoc tasks/duties as required by the business/department and to provide cover for the Financial Accountant as required e.g. weekly cash forecast

The Right Person

We are one big team, and we look for people to join our business who want to work with others but take responsibility for doing their best every day to help to make the business a success. We also need:

  • Excellent IT skills, particularly with Excel
  • Excellent numeracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communications and the ability to talk about finance with non financial experts.
  • Experience of working within manufacturing would be an advantage
