Location: 27700 Hilliard Blvd. Westlake, Ohio 44145
Pay Rate: up to $75,100.00 per year
Hours/Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of the Finance Director or the Assistant Finance Director, the individual in this position will perform routine clerical, bookkeeping, accounting, and administrative work in administering the payroll function of the city. Compiles payroll data to maintain payroll records.
Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:
Prepares payroll & payroll reporting requirements per Federal, State, and local laws
Prepares periodic reports. Assists in the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, year-end reports and other State or Federal reports
Assists the Finance Director or the Assistant Finance Director in the operation and maintenance of the City’s central financial computing system
Maintains employee master file
Maintains payroll related employee leave records, such as sick or vacation leave
Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll
Makes journal entries to balance and close monthly books in general ledger, revenue and expense accounts; reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts as directed
Provides clerical support to the finance staff as required
Composes, types, and edits a variety of correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness
Serves as a back-up cashier/assistant including receipting of utility and other payments
- Regular and reliable attendance
Required Qualifications and Skills
A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Accounting OR two (2) years of related clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience
Efficient with Microsoft Office Suite and possess basic math & organizational skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license
