Finance Director (Accountant)
FINANCE DIRECTOR
Reports To: Foundation President
Classification: Exempt/Salaried position
(M-F, 40 hours per week. Occasional nights and weekends may be required to support meetings and special events.)

The Delaware County Foundation works closely with donors, local leaders, and hundreds of nonprofit partners to improve the quality of life in Delaware County.
Position Summary
The Finance Director works closely with the President with the overview of the financial systems, operating and maintaining the accounting system, preparing financial reports, and preparing the Foundation's annual budget.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING
- Coordinate day-to-day accounting functions, including A/P, G/L, reconciliations, grant and fund accounting
- Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and quarterly fund statements for fundholders
- Coordinate month-end and year-end closes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Oversee monthly reconciliation of bank and investment accounts
- Lead in the preparation of 990, annual external audit, and other required filings
- Provide expertise in Foundation's accounting software
- Ensure proper financial and internal controls are in place and provide research and recommendations for improvement
- Assist in preparation of the annual budget and ongoing budget forecasting
- Provide support to Investment, Finance and Audit Committees
- Maintain current knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and charitable giving rules
HUMAN RESOURCES AND OPERATIONS
- Manage payroll process, including monthly payroll transactions and corresponding journal entries.
- Ensure personnel manual and files are in legal compliance
Competencies and Qualifications
A minimum of 3-5 years of successful accounting experience and excellent skills in financial administration, including fund accounting. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES INCLUDE:
- Strong internal and external customer service ethic, personal warmth, and sincerity
- Budget preparation experience
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit GAAP
- Experience with fund accounting and integrated accounting systems
- Excellent skills in the use of Windows 10, Microsoft Office programs (particularly Excel), and accounting packages (integrated software preferred)

- Strong project management skills
- Investment accounting experience
- Strong analytical skills
- Track record of implementing systems and process changes
- Ability to thrive and work accurately in a fast-paced, changing environment

Salary and Benefits (Range $45,000-$60,000)
Compensation commensurate with salary standards and work experience. Benefits include two weeks of vacation, paid holidays, health insurance, and a retirement match.
