Financial Aid Specialist - South Campus

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide exceptional service and assistance to students in the completion and processing of financial aid and scholarship applications. To conduct outreach programs.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Meet with students to advise them about financial aid policies, procedures and processes while providing quality customer services.
  • Review financial aid applications and accompanying documentation to ensure accuracy, and completeness.
  • Assist students and parents/family with completing financial aid and scholarship applications.
  • Provides full range of support to students and the general public by responding to inquiries via phone, email, chat and/or text.
  • Interact with students, high school personnel, and the general public to promote the financial aid programs and scholarships
  • Collaborate with other college departments to provide services to students.
  • Actively promote the financial aid by participating in recruitment activities
  • Other duties assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to write and speak clearly
  • Detail oriented
  • Capable of working independently with minimum supervision
  • Familiarity with Individual Tax Returns
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Available to work overtime, possibly weekends, if needed

Required Education and Experience:
  • Associate Degree and 2 years office/customer services related experience or high school diploma/equivalent and 5 years of office/customer services related experience

Preferred Education:
  • Associate Degree or higher

Preferred Experience:
  • One or more years of financial aid experience
  • Proven working knowledge of IRS tax code
  • Banner software experience
