Job description
Under broad supervision, performs advanced level finance, accounting and fiscal control functions. Performs and/or oversees financial planning, documentation, analysis, reporting and system development. Leads and coordinates the design or implementation of financial/accounting/budget related systems and reports. Enforces compliance with laws and regulations governing financial instruments, taxes, real estate and securities transactions. May also serve in a lead role. Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision. Analyzes investment projects; follows-up on financing projects. Compiles financial information from all components and develops integrated revenue/expense analyses and reports. Coordinates all components to ensure consistent reporting and adherence to federal and state financial reporting regulations and guidelines. Develops, analyzes and monitors financial data. Examines documents to determine degree of risk from such factors as financial standing, value and condition of property. Examines entries, statements, expenditures, taxes and other accounting and financial records, documents and systems of an individual, agency or other establishments to ensure financial accuracy. May direct the operation, implementation and maintenance of financial systems or equipment (ie toll booths and related electronics, fiscal information systems, bookkeeping or recording systems, cash registers or terminals, etc). May supervise lower level and/or support staff. May supervise operation of technical or clerical functions, processes or staff. Provides technical assistance to management and staff Confers with officials of real estate, securities or financial institutions. Researches issues and provides technical assistance. Serves as job expert or organization resource
Preferred qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
- Basic understanding of government accounting
- Inventory and capital asset knowledge
- Financial software experience (i.e. PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle NewSuite, QuickBooks)
- General ledger knowledge
Notes: This position will be in Decatur, GA at 2984 Clifton Springs Rd., Decatur, GA 30034. Please note that this position does require travel frequently to different correctional facilities and to State Office South at Tift College located in Forsyth, GA.
