INEOS Olefins and Polymers USA is one of the largest integrated producers of olefins and polyolefins in North America. From its primary manufacturing locations at Chocolate Bayou, near Alvin, Texas and Battleground Manufacturing Complex in LaPorte, Texas, with significant operations at multiple sites in the US for WL Plastics, an Oil and Gas subsidiary with active wells in Texas, as well as smaller operations at Cedar Bayou and near Hobbs New Mexico. O&P USA, produces and/or markets of butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene, and high-density polyethylene, NGL feedstocks, Oil & Gas and PE Plastic pipes with annual revenue of over $6 billion.
How the Role Fits In:
This role, as a member of the Finance Reporting team, will provide key business analysis to drive the daily operational tactics and decisions and to support the long term strategy development for INEOS Olefins and Polymers USA.
The Main Purpose of the Role:
The Financial Analyst-Reporting and Economics position is responsible for the INEOS Executive Management reporting and project investment economics modeling for the entire Olefins and Polymers USA business. This role has frequent interaction with Senior Leadership. This position is very hands on. This role requires the ability to communicate with employees of all levels and different functional disciplines. A flexible work schedule is required to meet monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial book close deadlines.
Responsibilities AND Accountabilities
- Development and oversight for project investment economic modeling; build financial and economic models.
- Prepare and present detailed financials for merger & acquisition modeling, review and analysis along with scenario modeling, break even curves, shut down economics, changing supply/demand implications, etc.
- Maintain guidelines and templates for economic modeling and train project leads/commercial teams as needed.
- Serves as subject matter expert in project economics for the business for all Mid-Large size Capex Projects.
- Work with senior leadership and other key stakeholders to perform assessments of potential new business strategies and M&A opportunities.
- Review and analyze external financial and operational data for benchmarking and competitor business analysis.
- Understand/track our target markets and competitive environments, business drivers & positioning.
- Participate in the development of the annual refresh of the 5-year strategy.
- Maintain monthly reporting on six sigma projects, working with six sigma team lead to track deliverables and project benefits/savings. Report results to CFO.
- Compile the monthly performance reporting for the O&P business and associated preparation for monthly Executive team meetings.
- Produce the Monthly, Quarterly and Annual commentaries for INEOS Executive Management and external reporting.
- Gather and compile information and preparatory materials for Quarterly Investor Calls and Annual Investor Meeting.
- Prepare monthly/annual Group Financial Outlook for the Pipeline system and provide necessary support during the monthly financial close process so that the financial results are accurately completed on a timely basis.
- Work closely with the Controller and other members of the Finance & Accounting team.
- Develops “how” or “new ways” to solve complex problems.
- Support management interpretation of financial transactions, events, and INEOS policies for users who must make economic or business decisions.
- Review the pipeline product line balance sheet monthly and review/prepare account reconciliations to provide assurance on data integrity.
- Assist with external and internal Auditors, Federal and State Government Reporting, Governmental taxing authorities as required.
- Provide oversight and support to the business unit delegation of authority.
- Lead special projects as required, as directed by management.
- Backup for other members of the Finance Reporting Team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Education/Experience
Level of education & Experience in general
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance with 5+ year relevant experience required.
- Master’s in business, accounting or finance will be strongly considered as positives.
- Preference given to candidates with financial experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills and Competencies
Technical skills
- Well-developed skills in financial modeling, economic evaluation, and development of business cases (NPV, IRR, DCF analysis and presentation).
- Advanced Microsoft Skills, primarily Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Works with very strong analytical and superior problem solving & diagnosing skills.
- Working knowledge of financial internal control processes.
- SAP FI/CO module knowledge. (knowledge of other modules also a plus)
