To aid in the in the continuing growth and support of our team Pinnacle GI Partners is seeking a Financial Counselor for our Shelby Twp, MI office. This Financial Counselor will report to the Revenue Cycle Manager. Some of daily responsibilities will include inform patients of their financial responsibility prior to the procedure date as a service to patients of the practice in accordance with the member(s) insurance policy requirements. The Financial Counselor may collect an up-front deposit for the procedure. The Financial Counselor is also responsible for setting up payment arrangements according to the current -Pinnacle GI Partners policy and communicating with patients to collect any past due monies.
Essential Job Duties:
- Interpret and analyze insurance information to be used to estimate patient financial responsibility.
- Develop a standard estimate that includes CPT codes and standard units based on normal course of treatment for the procedure to be performed via the Rivet software.
- Converse with patients to explain the cost of treatment, insurance coverage and patient financial responsibility.
- Review all payment and financial options.
- Document all correspondence within the practice management system.
- Working with patients to collect outstanding balances and if necessary, establishing payment plans.
- Ensure that no surgical procedure commences until all financial details are completed in accordance with member(s) insurance policy and -Pinnacle GI Partners financial policies and procedures.
What we are looking for:
- Must be able to develop and maintain professional, service oriented working relationships with patients, physicians, co-workers and supervisors.
- Basic accounting and medical terminology to include ICD10 and CPT coding.
- Ability to analyze insurance coverage and benefits in order to inform patients of their coverage.
- Detail oriented with good organizational skills. Must be able to understand and comply with -Pinnacle GI Partners policies and procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret medical records to determine what is appropriate to obtain authorization.
- Having strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Two years’ experience with interpreting insurance benefits coverage and out-of-pocket expenses.
- Two years’ experience with direct patient contact and patient collections.
