Procedure
1. Patrol your designated area, include corridors, hallways, lobbies, stairwells, lounges, and other common areas.
a. As applicable based on facility physical plant layout, the following areas should be included;
i. Stairwells – open doors and investigate each stairwell.
ii. Basements, lounges, laundry rooms, and dining areas
iii. Hallways, offices, storage areas, housekeeping closets
iv. Resident rooms, nurses station, utility rooms, maintenance rooms
2. Look for observable signs of smoke and/or fire
3. Document completion of rounding on the Fire Watch Checklist & Log
4. At the first sign of smoke or fire, staff should immediately
a. Contact fire department
b. Contact the applicable state agency (e.g., survey agency, life safety)
c. Notify Executive Director, Director of Nursing, and Maintenance Director
d. Make overhead announcement
e. Move residents from affected area
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
