Manages daily responsibilities of the fitness, personal training, and aquatic staff as well as assist members in their exercise programs on all equipment at Carilion Wellness. Maintain standards of cleanliness and proper functioning of all equipment and pools.

• 
  Manage the FitRx program as well as fitness consultations/equipment orientation for new members. Respond to inquiry calls within 24 business hour and to member concern forms” within 48 business hours.
• Hire, train, schedule and manage the performance of personal trainers (full & flex time), fitness attendants, lifeguards and swim instructors. Ensure their knowledge and skills are consistent industry standards.
• Submit all monthly commissions to the Senior Director of Operations by noon on the first day of each month. Determine new equipment needs and submit a budget to the Senior Director of Operations.
• Maintain operations of aquatics area by developing, implementing, and enforcing department policies and procedures. Also inspect all pools by visual and physical inspections for safety, chemical and temperature controls, and proper mechanical functioning (backwashing, vacuuming, etc.).
• Oversee development and implementation of fitness programs and fitness related club events (youth & adult) including all Racquetball Tournaments. Offer Live Better clinics and fitness presentations on exercise, approximately once a month, to include Saturdays. Organize summer strength and conditioning camp for students and athletes including marketing, staffing, guest participation, etc. Organize different fitness and aquatics programs for membership motivation.
• Work closely with property maintenance and housekeeping to ensure all Carilion Wellness exercise equipment remains clean and working properly and ensure the cleanliness of all fitness/personal training/pool related areas.
• Maintain a good working knowledge of operational procedures of all cardiovascular equipment and train the fitness staff on these operational procedures.
• Update bulletin boards with pertinent personal training, fitness, and pool information. Work closely with the Wellness Events and Programs Manager to market and sell the personal trainers, personal training, and aquatics programs. Responsible for promoting, scheduling, and overseeing the swim lesson program.
• Responsible for opening or closing the facility. Serve as manager on duty during non-core hours and provides oversight of all staff members.
• In weekend rotation with other appropriate full-time managers. Work 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and be on call during assigned weekend. Must be available at all times (including weekends) to handle any chemical, mechanical or lifeguard issues.
• Perform “ownership checks” at least (3) times a day.
• Oversees the opening and the closing of the outdoor pool.

What We Require:

Education: Bachelors degree in a fitness related field required.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: AHA BLS-HCP certification is required. If not certified, certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Personal Training certification preferred. Other exercise related certifications are also preferred. Must receive lifeguard certification within 60 days of hire date.
