- POSITION SUMMARY
- Assists with the fitness/exercise and health education components.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts fitness/exercise programs as appointed by the Director.
- Prepares health and fitness articles for the monthly newsletter publication.
- Plans, implements, monitors, conducts and evaluates and/or participates in the exercise portion of patient education programs based upon the individual s exercise prescription.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and all levels of hospital staff as well as related personnel.
- Exercises creativity in-group and individual exercise program design.
- Performs fitness testing services.
- Ensures confidentiality of client, legal, budget and company matters.
- Maintains good communications; establishes and maintains positive working relationships with employees, clients, and the public.
- Assists Director with marketing.
- Assists Director, with evaluations, reporting, data collection, statistics and reports.
- Assists Director with fitness workshops and speaking arrangements to represent Elliot Hospital.
- Attends staff meetings, pertinent in-service programs and departmental meetings.
- Participates in appropriate role in fire and disaster drills, fires and other situations.
- Exercises care in the use and operation of equipment and reference materials. Performs routine maintenance to ensure continued functioning of equipment. Maintains work area in a clean and organized manner.
- REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
- Ability to endure periods of heavy workload or stress.
- Familiarity with continuous quality improvement strategies.
- Ability to plan and perform diversified duties requiring an extensive knowledge of a particular field and the use of a wide range of procedures
- Ability to communicate with the age appropriate populations.
- Ability to transport self to and from off-site locations
- EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE
- Education: Associate s Degree in Exercise Science, Health Education or a closely related field; OR equivalent experience required. Bachelor s Degree preferred.
- Experience: Educational preparation in Basic Cardiac Life Support required. Prior experience working in a gym setting, providing group exercise classes or providing fitness/exercise programs for seniors preferred.
- Certification/Licensure: CPR and First Aid certification is required (or must be obtained within 60-days of employment). Group exercise certification preferred.

- Schedule: Generally Monday through Friday, days. Per Diem.
