Job Summary:
Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind is seeking a Part-Time Driver. The Driver’s primary duty is to drive the mobile unit to health fairs, uninsured clinics, and senior facilities throughout the greater Washington DC metropolitan area.

We provide a comprehensive range of programs and services for the nearly 180,000 people in Maryland, DC and Virginia who are blind or visually impaired. Essential Functions:
- Picking up and returning the mobile unit to the assigned offsite parking location.
- Performing safety checks on the van and equipment each time prior to operation.
- Driving the mobile unit to the designated site on time and in a safe and courteous manner.
- Taking the van for repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Ensuring the overall cleanliness of vehicle before and after visits. This includes taking the van to the car wash, cleaning the interior, and removing any trash.
- Completing required mileage logs and any other required forms and submitting them in a timely manner.
- Assisting clients to board or exit the van safely.
- Performing basic procedures under the direction and supervision of the staff and doctor on duty. This may include completing intake forms, recording client health information, and obtaining screening materials or equipment.
- As needed, assist the providers by preparing clients for screenings and assisting with the assessments.
Qualifications:
- Current driver’s license valid in the state of MD, DC or VA required. A commercial driver’s license is not required.
- Must possess and maintain a safe driving record.
- Must pass pre-employment background, drug, and alcohol testing.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Have good general knowledge of the Montgomery County and the DC area including locations, neighborhoods, and safely navigating traffic circles and narrow streets.
- Experience driving a truck or similar large vehicle is desirable.
- The ability to diagnose mechanical problems and check repair work would be an asset in this position.
- Ability to communicate well with participants, volunteers, backup drivers, and personnel from other agencies.
- Dependable and have the availability to work flexible weekends and holidays.

- Must be able to push/lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
