About the job
Join the Berry Global team as a Flexographic Press Operator in Nashville, TN. As a Flexographic Press Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring a quality product is achieved by using statistical process control methods and troubleshooting techniques. You will also provide leadership on a printing press, ensuring maximum machine and raw material efficiencies are achieved while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous manufacturing experience (preferred)
- Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude
- Ability and willingness to work a 12-hour rotating schedule, including nights and weekends (5:00-5:00)
- Positive attitude and solid work ethic
- Capacity to work in a team environment
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, while ensuring all team members work within the safety guidelines as established by Berry Global
- Complete safety orientation and forklift certification training
- Demonstrate an understanding of our product, customer specifications, and visual inspection requirements
- Collect and document specific data
- Utilize color measuring instruments for monitoring colors (Gretag)
- Measure and monitor ink viscosities and it’s effect on color
- Understand basic color theory and control in multi-color printing
- Apply measurements and data, identifying root causes and solving problems
- Utilize applicable statistical tools as needed
- Effectively communicate and interact professionally with all people in the work environment
- Understand the importance of and respect/maintain the confidentiality of the company and customer
- Utilize teamwork to fulfill job requirements and process improvement
- Apply general computer skills to assigned tasks (Shop Floor, Quality Windows, etc.)
- Effectively train new team members
- Understand the components and functions of the basic flexographic printing press, including the unwind, infeed, drying, outfeed, rewind, register, impression setting, port-a-lift, and inking systems
- Apply general make-ready procedures for flexographic printing
- Read and interpret Job Discrete Routing Sheets
- Identify raw materials by part numbers
- Recognize, identify, and communicate problems in specific terms (troubleshooting)
- Effectively transfer information between shifts
- Understand and interpret MSMS and SOC sheets, and how to properly complete them as needed
- Demonstrate good housekeeping and organizational skills
- Build a positive work environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
