Grand Central Bakery is seeking a Food Safety Coordinator to assist our Quality Assurance and Food Safety Manager to elevate our food safety program.

The Food Safety Coordinator (FSC) provides high-level food safety program support for Grand Central Bakery. Working under the direction of the QAFS Manager, the Food Safety Coordinator provides oversight of all food safety programs for Grand Central Bakery facilities and has incredible integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. The FSC works on-site in order to review food safety at the Seattle Bread Production facility. The FSC works cross departmentally and is able to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders.

Rate of Pay: This position pays $23.67 per hour.

Schedule: Full-time, 4 days a week, hours to be determined.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English required; English/Spanish bilingual a plus.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Maintains food handler’s card – new hires are expected to have a valid card by their first date of work.
  • Must demonstrate regular attendance by coming to work on scheduled working days and being on time. May be required to work a variety of days and shifts to meeting business need including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to add, subtract and multiply with ease and accuracy.
  • Intermediate computer skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, or comparable programs required.
  • Has and maintains a valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license. Follows policies and procedures in the Driver Safety Manual at all times.
  • 2+ years of experience working in food manufacturing preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience as a Quality Assurance or Food Safety lead in a food manufacturing facility preferred.
  • PCQI certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire required.
  • Working knowledge of Washington and FDA food safety regulations required, knowledge of Oregon food safety regulations a plus.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Experience with food production and sanitation processes preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site at the Seattle Bread Production facility required.

Physical requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Remains stationary for the majority of their working shift.
  • This position works in a building shared with production facilities is constantly exposed to wheat flour dust and other grain dusts (rye, corn, oat).
