Job Description/General Function

The Food Security Coordinator will be responsible for planning and implementing seasonal food programs in compliance with USDA guidelines and grant requirements as applicable. In addition, the Food Security Coordinator will oversee volunteers and work closely with sire program leads. Additionally, the Food Security Coordinator will be responsible for communicating with families involved in our nutritional outreach projects and communicating and collaborating with other Jefferson County nonprofit organizations.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of seasonal food programs including, but not limited to working with site program leads, meal planning according to USDA guidelines, food purchase, and preparation
  • Ensure completion of USDA reporting requirements and all other grant reporting requirements as applicable
  • Ensure completion of reimbursement billing for CACFP and SFSP as applicable
  • Coordinate completion of facility agreements, WA State site applications, and Health Department permits for SFSP as needed
  • Oversee all aspects of SFSP including, but not limited to kitchen set up and clear out, meal planning, food shopping, prepping, packaging, and volunteer oversight
  • Creates menus, shop for, and prepare snacks for the YMCA year long programming
  • Facilitates the Food Outreach endeavors with other Jefferson County Organizations
  • Family Outreach and Communications regarding Food Access Programs
  • Maintains all YMCA kitchen spaces, pantries, fridge, freezers, and inventory
  • Train all YMCA employees who have contact with food on propre handling procedures by both local and state guidelines
  • Create and manage a yearly budget
  • Help coordinate food/snacks for internal YMCA events and meetings
  • Come up with new ideas and opportunities for the YMCA to facilitate food outreach in the community
  • Accurately and timely track vendor receipts to reconcile monthly credit card statement
  • Responsible for general house keeping tasks to ensure the work space is always clean

Required Skills and Experience

  • Have a food worker card or be able to obtain one within 7 days of hire
  • Reliable transportation is a must
  • Is mindful of budget limitations regarding scheduled hours and supply spending
  • Strong administrative and computer skills, including digital literacy with multiple platforms including Microsoft and Google
  • Ability to learn and use online programs such as Daxko, Volunteer Matters, and WINS
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible
  • Familiarity with public health and food worker safety is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple overlapping projects and prioritize deadlines and need both internally and externally
  • Ability to plan long term and meet set timelines for grant, applications, and seasonal outreach
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
  • Ability to relate well and communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, in all circumstances
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Have a current CPR and first aid certification or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hire

Additional Expectations and Duties

  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as required and complete all online trainings which include child abuse prevention training within 7 days of hire
  • Upholds YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting, and risk management. Adheres to policies to boundaries with youths
  • Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations in accordance with mandated reporting requirements
  • Responsible for general housekeeping tasks to ensure the workspace is always clean
  • Submits hours worked accurately on the electronic timecard, within timelines for supervisor approval
  • Passion for high standards and beliefs in the YMCA mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility
  • Flexible schedule as needed as on occasion may need to work evenings and/or weekends
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Environment

  • Indoor kitchen environment with lots of volunteers
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employees works indoors and outdoors
  • Evening and/or early morning, and/or weekend hours periodically
  • Occasional travel required

  • May require physical effort and cardiac endurance while reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, balancing, bending, leaning, kneeling, walking, and climbing
  • Carrying supplies, up to 50 lbs.

YMCA Vehicle

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid drivers license
  • Driving record which meets or exceeds YMCA standards, driver records request will be submitted
