POSITION POSTED UNTIL A VIABLE POOL OF CANDIDATES HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED
A high school education or equivalent and a minimum of four (4) years experience in signage maintenance, building/equipment maintenance, graphic design/maintenance processes is required. An Associate degree or greater is strongly desired. Must have experience working with personal computers, using word processing and spreadsheets. Experience in the use of computer software such as Windows 95/98, Excel, and Word programs. Experience in a planned maintenance environment, as well as working knowledge of the technical terminology relevant to the Office's specialty is highly desirable. College education may substitute year-for-year for experience requirement. Knowledge of the current labor contract along with experience dealing with union representatives is desired.
Basic Functions
Supervises the activities of personnel responsible for maintenance of various MARTA facilities, equipment, and/or supplies. Monitors daily operations, plans and evaluates subordinates' performance and provides technical assistance to the work unit. Supervises the activities of and personnel assigned to the Paint Shop. Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business. Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree.
1. Inspects completed work to verify satisfactory results. Develops, performs and records maintenance inspections as appropriate. Prepares work orders on all assigned work performed.
2. Monitors inventory levels to ensure enough supply of materials are available to promote efficient operations. Orders supplies and materials through the MPAC System.
3. Monitors equipment operation for productivity and quality improvement opportunity. Makes and evaluates recommendations regarding the purchase of new equipment, new chemicals, and new policies and procedures.
4. Assists in monitoring external contracts.
5. Prepares materials and facilitates CQI, safety and other scheduled training classes and meetings.
6. Maintains up-to-date records on time and attendance, issues verbal and written warnings, and counsels’ employees, when necessary, in accordance with the MARTA policy and Union agreement on time and attendance.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Special Requirements

Coaches personnel on proper performance of work, frequently providing direct technical assistance. Determines safe work methods and ensures that employees are notified of new and modified methods. Ensures that employees are trained on safety policies and procedures. Ensures that employees follow procedures. Responds to health and safety concerns of employees in a timely manner.
