The Neil Jones Food Company is looking for a seasonal Forklift Operator I at our Tomatek facility in Firebaugh, CA. The Neil Jones Food Company processes superior quality, fresh packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. With headquarters in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 35 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Tomatek in Firebaugh, CA.

Summary: Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a forklift performing multiple duties throughout entire plant using multiple types of attachments for the transport of containers including pallets, drums and bins. Main tasks will be the simple movement of product from one location to another using a variety of different forklift types, including electric and propane lifts. This is a seasonal, non-exempt, union position, supporting our fresh pack season, typically June - October.

Key Responsibilities:

• Moving products safely and efficiently from one area to another as directed by Leads or other coworkers.
• Supplying raw materials from storage areas to the correct production lines.
• Ensuring that each production line is supplied with the correct type and quantity of packing material needed.
• Ensures fiber staging area and case maker area is stocked and cleaned at the end of the shift and a proper pass down is given to the on-coming driver.
• Disposing of recyclables, trash and waste in designated bins and/or trash receptacles.

Requirements:

• Forklift Certification preferred; ability to complete the company forklift safety and training program.
• Requires the ability to follow verbal and written commands, work with others, and the ability to coordinate production with peers.
• Requires the ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Requires the ability to read and speak English.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

Compensation:

The hourly union wage is $16.53.
