Position Summary

The Forklift Operator duties include pulling color by work order, loading, and unloading resin, moving material, hauling scrap and more. The Forklift Operator must work to ensure smooth and consistent operation to satisfy internal and external customer requirements. This is a backup position and when NOT performing the Forklift Operator duties you will be working as a Production Operator.

Duties and Responsibilities

Includes the following: other duties may be assigned:

• Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following Buckhorn policies and OSHA standards
• Ensures all jobs are running the proper resins and additives as outlined in the BOM
• Ensures all material transfers are performed properly and accurately when resins are moved physically
• Pulls color by work orders and stages at machines
• Unloads resin from rail cars into silos. Loads and unloads repro trailers
• Delivers resin and repro to machines as needed
• Reports and maintain color usage on the RISE boards
• Monitors calcium usage on a daily basis
• Moves materials away from lines when work orders are complete
• Implement and maintain 6-S organization tools

Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED equivalent; computer proficiency (Word and Excel). Forklift certification required (must obtain if selected and do not have). Must be a team-oriented person, able to work in fast-paced environment, and have a good mechanical aptitude.
Two to three years related experience and/or training preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization; ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to do two mathematical operations to arrive at the solution; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; ability to work effectively with coworkers and supervision.
