Full-time Gastroenterology Physician Assistant (PA) Opening – Danbury, Connecticut (60 miles from New York City)

Nuvance Health, formerly known as Western Connecticut Health Network, has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Gastroenterology Physician Assistant (PA) at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut, about 60 miles outside of New York City in suburban Fairfield County. Our long established, busy, and growing practice includes 14 physicians and 9 physician assistants. The position includes seeing patients both in the outpatient office and hospital, with inpatient/hospital coverage every sixth weekend.

The ideal candidate will be a board certified Physician Assistant with some Internal Medicine and/or Gastroenterology experience preferred. This is an employed position that includes a comprehensive benefits package, as well as allowances for CMEs and Dues. Our employed Medical Group includes 900+ physicians and advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout western Connecticut and eastern New York.

Our Gastroenterology practice is located on the Danbury Hospital Campus. Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area residents convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, and Yale School of Medicine.

Danbury, Connecticut, located in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains and on the border of New York State, is about 60 miles northeast of New York City and 60 miles west of Hartford, CT. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the city of Danbury enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, fishing and boating in state and regional parks and preserves. Home to Western Connecticut State University, Danbury has abundant local historical, cultural, educational, and recreational attractions. Boston, New York City, New Haven and Hartford are easily accessible via train, car, or bus.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree and graduate of an approved Physician Assistant (PA) school.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Connecticut State Physician Assistant license.
• State of Connecticut controlled substance registration (CSR).
• Federal DEA.
• Strong Interpersonal and communication skills.
• Internal Medicine or Gastroenterology experience preferred
• Ability to participate in weekend coverage rotation (every 6th weekend)
