General Laborers provide support to multiple departments by performing physical labor tasks such as assisting and/or operating equipment, handling equipment and tools, obtaining supplies for operators, performing general clean up around machines and other moving equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Must follow manufacturing processes, procedures and policies, as applicable to the position’s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Assist equipment operators as required with the ability to learn the next level job.
- Maintain a clean job site by cleaning up around equipment, picking up all tools and equipment each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.
Haul and hoist materials using powered industrial trucks and cranes; load and unload material from machines.
- Apply safety standards/safety absolutes on a continuous basis.
- Basic data entry into the applicable computer systems
- Participate in safety improvements throughout the facility; these include improving existing procedures, improving guarding, etc.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Production or manufacturing experience with good mechanical aptitude preferred
- Previous shift work experience preferred
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Experience with data entry or operating computer programs preferred
- Previous military or farm experience a plus
- Must have a high regard for safety and teamwork
- Work in a hot and humid environment
- Perform heavy work, defined as lifting 100 lb. maximum with help, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Work around fast-moving machinery
- Work at heights
- Other duties as assigned
