Job description

This position is located at the West Central Research and Outreach Center (WCROC) in Morris, MN. The WCROC is part of the Translational Research and Engagement division in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS). The General Laborer Maintenance (GLM) will assist in the maintenance of equipment and buildings in the agronomy, livestock, and farming operations at the WCROC.

The typical work hours for the GLM will be 40 hours per week with 8 hours per day. This is a 67-day temporary position.

Duties:

Maintenance of equipment and buildings (80%)

Work with Senior General Mechanic and independently to perform maintenance on equipment in the farm shop.

Perform maintenance on buildings and equipment in buildings as needed.

Perform routine maintenance on tractors, trucks, cars, utility vehicles, and other equipment in the WCROC Fleet

Modify and/or construct research equipment needed by WCROC programs

Other maintenance tasks as assigned

Miscellaneous duties (20%)

Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

High school graduate.

Ability to walk or stand for majority of each work day. Able to bend, climb, reach, kneel; carry, lift, push and pull up to 60 lbs

Desire to follow U of M policies

Preferred Qualifications:

Five years of work experience in an agricultural or Mechanic position.

Willingness and ability to work in a team setting

Knowledge of carpentry and other building maintenance tasks
