Location: base location Wakefield, but you will be expected to cover the North East area

As part of a Repairs and Maintenance team, as a handy person your tasks will include a wide spectrum of duties including pest control, cleaning, waste collection and small maintenance work but whilst always delivering the best in class customer service and satisfying all safety, quality and cost control standards.
- Inspect houses and the surrounding properties to identify type and source of infestation
- Develop treatment plans and prevention methods to remove pest problems for service user and reduce the risk of re-infestation
- Provide service user with safety warnings and other directions regarding the treatment process
- Treat rooms, furnishings, wood, clothing and surrounding areas by spraying powders, gasses or other chemical solutions on affected areas
- Remove dead insects, rodents and weeds, and ensure the premises are free of all treatment chemicals and equipment before leaving the job.
- Carry out cleaning tasks to ensure the agreed standards are maintained for all accommodation
- To generally maintain any cleaning equipment, e.g. vacuum sweeper. To ensure that all equipment is used and stored in a safe manner and kept in a clean condition.
- To clean the public rooms, corridors, stairs and bathrooms.
- To service user rooms and bathrooms while respecting tenants individual choice, needs and minding their personal belongings.
- To carry out maintenance, repairs work & routine checks in accordance with health & safety regulations including risks assessments & maintain statutory records;
- To be responsible for general maintenance including possible light building and property repairs, possible repairs of fencing, painting, floor and wall tiling, furniture repairs, general DIY including replacing locks, handles etc.
- To carry out repair and maintenance in the interior and exterior areas including putting up shelves, changing light bulbs, porter age including erecting/dismantling and moving furniture, removing waste and cleaning properties, grass cutting and general grounds maintenance.
- To maintain and unblock sewers and drains, including unblocking sinks.
- Any other duties as deemed necessary, if these duties are of a greater level of responsibility or skill of those required in the post then full training and appropriate supervision will be provided.
- Waste collection and transport to nearest waste transfer station
What are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have experience working in a similar role before and confident to be able to carry out minor repairs and handy person work i.e. fit curtains, blinds, door handles, painting, leaking waste pipes, replace light bulbs, check smoke alarms and agree to training where required in pest control, cleaning and waste collection. IT use of tablet for recording work carried out and taking photographs. The ability to communicate on a one-to-one basis and produce information in a written form, including completion of all necessary work documentation. The ability to work with the minimum of supervision as part of a team
