Job Description:

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialists are responsible for creating and maintaining geographic data and maps, analyzing spatial data, and providing support for GIS applications. They create and maintain GIS databases and maps and integrate these into enterprise data warehouses, geodatabases, etc.

Position is 100% remote, however, currently we are unable to consider candidates for remote opportunities in the following states: California, Hawaii, Rhode Island and Washington.

The GIS specialists collaborate with other departments and organizations to integrate GIS data and analysis into their work, including but not limited to, strategic planning, marketing intelligence, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), social determinants of health, and real-time location services

The Senior level GIS Specialist works on highly complex projects and develops enterprise GIS standards demonstrating skills and competency in the use of GIS tools. They collect, process, and analyze geographic data from various sources, develop and implement GIS applications and tools for use by internal and external customers, provide GIS support for various projects and initiatives and participate in GIS training and education for internal and external customers. The Senior level also mentors other GIS Specialists and / or data, analytics, and business professionals in GIS initiatives and provides guidance and oversight on GIS projects and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

• Advanced experience in GIS data analysis and mapping tasks including geocoding, geo-enrichment of data, complex report development, and complex spatial analysis using Esri ArcGIS Pro
• Understanding of geographic data sources available through local, county, state, or federal agencies
• Advanced understanding of GIS theory and principles (e.g., vector, raster, coordinate systems, projections, transformations, cartography, etc.)
• Experience successfully mentoring other GIS, data, analytics, and business professionals in GIS initiatives
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, R and/or JavaScript and demonstrated ability to script and automate solutions using Python of similar scripting languages
• Project management skills
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree earned in a related field such as GIS, geography, spatial data science, computer science, environmental science, engineering, or related field with demonstrated GIS training or coursework. Experience without a related degree will be considered if skill set and experience are robust.
• Successful experience working in a healthcare or insurance setting.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$38.41 - $60.46
