SUMMARY

Provides administrative oversight to the grant process for large-scale grants including compliance with institutional financial practices within the Department of Genetics.

Impacts large scale and/or multiple grant activities of the department. Impacts the capability of the department or program to reach its scientific and administrative goals.

The ideal candidate will have post award grant and financial experience.

KEY FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for the administration and oversight of all government and private grants for the department.
  • Assists in the development and analysis of grant proposals
  • Initiates department administrative planning for grant development
  • Ensures proper account setup in the accounting system
  • Preparation of reports, close out of grants, etc.
  • Develops budgets for grant applications
  • Prepares post award financial reports for faculty
  • Audits to ensure quality and regulatory compliance
  • Ensures compliance with granting agency and university guidelines
  • Coordinates the implementation of systems, policies, and procedures affecting the submission, review, approval, contract negotiation, activation, regulation, tracking, and reporting of and submission of grant applications and annual reports, according to institutional and external requirements
  • Responsible for all grant submissions for the department
  • Assists with the reconciliation of financial reports, reviews for accuracy, identifies problems.
  • Assists in preparation of monthly financial reports for Department Administrator and Chairman.
  • Assists in quarterly effort reporting.
  • Maintains grant financial database (File Maker Pro).

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Two years of grant management experience such as grant writing, grant submission and financial administration and one year of lead or supervisory experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one year basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
