The Grant and Contracts Specialist will conduct pre-award activities in
collaboration with principal investigators as part of the CFAES Office of Research and Graduate Education, Grant Development Support Unit. Participates with the development and preparation of grant proposals; provides pre-award expertise in support of the production review and receipt of budget; and other required administrative components of the grant proposal submission process; provides proposal development tools aids; establishes appropriate sub-recipient budgets and documents as needed for grant submissions; serves as primary specialist and contact on all electronic and paper proposal preparation for assigned grants; coordinates submission of proposals with the Office of Sponsored Programs; investigates evaluates and notifies principal investigators of funding opportunities; collaborates with principal investigators and funding sources to develop and prepare appropriate budgets for research activities; ensures compliance with sponsor university and third party regulations; participates with training of new PIs and their staff coordinates special funding requests and internal commitments. Conduct special projects and provide interpretive reports as required. Develops content for the Monthly Research Newsletter and social media presence. Prepares a monthly listing of funding opportunities for distribution to researchers.

Minimum Education Requirement is a Bachelor's Level Degree.

Required qualifications include considerable grant or contract management experience; considerable knowledge of pre-award grant management process. A successful Grants Specialist has the ability to perform the following essential skills and competencies: Possess time management ability, follow through,
organizational skills, and attention to detail; be capable of multi-tasking, problem solving, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills; Be capable of efficiently learning new systems and adopting new procedures; Be self-motivated, and balance working autonomously as well as within a
team; be comfortable with being flexible and adaptable performing in a high volume and deadline driven environment; Understand the importance and value in providing exceptional customer service; Possess the ability to review and interpret sponsor and University policies and procedures; Apply financial analysis and budgeting skills using Excel spreadsheets as a tool; Enjoy working in a culture that promotes work/life balance, peer collaboration, autonomy, and supportive leadership. Experience working with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Qualtrics, or other desktop publishing software required.

Desired qualification include a Certified Research Administration (CRA) certificate (expected within being in 3 years of the position).

Salary Range: $49,800-$66,400

The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
