About us

The Matthews Group is a full service marketing firm occupying its own 10,000sf creative studio with a dedicated cyclorama sound stage, new audio recording studio, resource library, prop department, and more that provides creatives like yourself a full complement of resources.

Environment
We sit in an open studio that enables us to see, talk, hear and enjoy each other. It is designed to eliminate formal meetings and expedite work flow. Sometimes it is stone quiet, other times we are sharing music, social media or mindless office banter. Musicians can often be heard recording in the sound studio, so if muffled vocals, bass and drums bother you, this is fair warning (we enjoy it).

Our clients are very intelligent, high achievers, eclectic, motivating and fun. Many of them drop by and enjoy sitting side by side with us working on projects. None of them are average by any stretch of the imagination. We have made a welcoming environment for them, they enjoy it and so do we.

Needed Skills
This job opening is for a talented graphic designer, either just out of school with a 2 or 4 year degree and an attractive portfolio coupled with strong real world internships.
OR, a graphic designer with two to four years experience, a degree and strong portfolio.

Day to Day
•. Website Design and/or updates on Squarespace, and occassionally on older platforms such as Wordpress.
•. Logo and Corporate Identity Design: We have designed over 500 logos and this will be part of your work flow.
•. Graphic Design on brochures, signs, direct mail, pamplets, statement stuffers, check presenter inserts, point of purchase, way finding graphics and more.

• Social media design.

•. Design of print ads and billboards,
•. Digital Marketing Ads - Display ads for digital marketing campaigns.
•. Graphics for Videos to appear on YouTube, Websites, TV, Streaming and OTT.

Skills that would be welcome but not required
•. Animation talent.
•. Illustration skills.

Your Personal Skills
•. Social intelligence goes a long way. Even if you are introverted.
•. A sense of style, etiquette, pop culture, the arts, science, music, business, literature. Being well read and up to date on current events, along with a grounded knowledge of design both past and present is a big plus.
•. A love of graphic design. Yes, some graphic designers aren't necessarily pasionnate about the profession.

Most Important

• A love of the creative agency business. It is unlike other professions.

•. A constant stream of learning. We like to try and achieve 200+ hours of continuing eduction per year. Your degree will be useless in 12 months or less. Learning keeps you up to date.

Salary: Per (51 week) Year: $40,300/yr. - $43,798/yr.

• Per Hour: $ 19.75/hr. - $21.47/hr.

(We are closed 1 week per year between Christmas and New Years
and divide our annual salaries by 51 weeks.)

Pay Period: Every other Friday.

Direct Deposit of Paychecks Available

Hours: Monday - Friday 8am-12pm 1pm - 5pm 40/hrs/wk.

Paid Vacation: 10 days (80 hours) paid vacation annually

• 5 days (40 hours) available in 8hr increments only
• 5 days (40 hours) available in 40hr increments only
• Vacation time does not roll over year to year, however, when an employee leaves TMG in good standing, earned vacation is paid if TMG has at its own discretion determined the employee is leaving TMG in good standing.
• Vacation eligibility begins after 1st year anniversary.

Paid Sick Leave: 3 days (24 hours) annually

• Available in 4hr increments only.
• Available after 30 days continuous employment.
• Unused paid sick leave does not accrue or roll over annually and is not paid upon termination.
• Paid sick leave is for the use of the sick employee only, not family members.

Paid Jury Duty: 2 days (16 hours) annually
• Available if called.

• Does not accrue or roll over year to year and is not paid upon termination.
• Proof of jury duty required.

Bereavement: 3 days (24 hours) annually

• Available in 4hr increments.
• Does not accrue or roll over year to year.
• Unused bereavement pay is not paid upon termination.
• Includes: employee’s spouse, parent, grandparent, child, grandchild or sibling. Spouse’s parent, child, or sibling. Employee’s child’s spouse.

Paid Holidays: 8 days (64 hours)

• January New Year’s Day (1 day, 8hrs)
• March Spring Break (1 day, 8hrs, last Friday of Texas A & M’s spring break)
• May Memorial Day (1 day, 8hrs, last Monday in May)
• July Independence Day (1 day, 8hrs, July 4)
• September Labor Day (1 day, 8hrs, first Monday in September)
• November Thanksgiving (1 day, 8hrs)
• Day after Thanksgiving (1 day, 8hrs)
• December Christmas Day, December 25th (1 day, 8hrs)
• Unused paid holidays do not rollover year to year and are not paid for upon termination.

Unpaid Holidays: 6 days (48 hours)

• Winter Break December 24, 26-31 (5 days, 40 hours)

Medical: Up to $3,755.00/yr. paid by TMG and the remainder paid by Employee •

• Eligible 30 days after Employment

HSA: Setup through your chosen HSA provider and voluntary remittal.

Dental: $5/month paid toward elective dental plan by TMG

Retirement: 2% paid toward elective SEP retirement plan by TMG
(Employee is eligible after 12 month anniversary)

Overtime: Overtime is only paid if pre-approved by your supervisor. Overtime
cannot be electively performed with expectation of pay without prior permission.

New Business: TMG expects all employees to actively participate in helping bring in new business by identifying opportunities for us to gain new clients and projects

• TMG does not and will not compete with an employee who is also actively seeking the same work in the marketplace.

Existing Business: TMG expects all employees to actively help retain and grow existing client relationships.

Drug and Tobacco: TMG is a drug and tobacco free workplace.

• No smoking during work hours.
• Random drug testing can occur.

Termination: Leaving TMG on good terms means giving at least 2 weeks notice and ideally 3 - 4 weeks notice to enable us to advertise, interview, hire and train your replacement. Your help in understanding our small size and the impact you have on our us upon your departure is respectfully requested in making a smooth transition.
