We are seeking an experienced Grocery Manager interested in pursuing a career in the food and beverage industry. This position is 100% in the office.

The Grocery Manager is responsible for negotiating pricing and terms for Grocery Department purchases and ensuring that supplies purchased meet required company standards and inventory levels.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Negotiate contracts to secure the highest quality goods and value based on market shifts, availability, and various product offerings.
• Ensure that Grocery supplies are of acceptable quality, competitively priced, and delivered timely.
• Ensure that all purchased materials are within product specifications.
• Create custom program contracts and manage negotiations with key suppliers.
• Monitor compliance with contracts by facilitating meetings and discussions to resolve circumstances
• Focus on utilizing a collaborative approach and developing relationships with various stakeholders.
• Develop multiple channel sourcing by product/vendor redundancy.
• Handle over 1500 products from over 30 vendors daily, weekly, or monthly.
• Participate in vendor site visits. Continually develop expertise to support growth for new projects. Keep abreast of economic, industrial, and other market price trends.
• Analyze sales reports to determine the correct product mix.
• Establish appropriate PAR levels for all Grocery items. Order products accordingly.
• Monitor dates and movement for all Grocery items to ensure products are sold within code dates. Place any closed-dated items on sale to ensure they sell through before being wasted.
• Price products according to specific department profitability guidelines.
• Write descriptions for signage and online product placement.
• Ensure all defective material reports are completed and submitted timely for supplier’s reimbursement.
• Assist customers with recommendations and information about products.
• Handle customer special orders and wholesale orders of Grocery items.
• Respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints, ensuring the customer always leaves happy.
• Plan and execute end cap promotions. Ensure that margins are maintained while passing savings on to the consumer.
• Coordinate demo schedules with vendors. Determine products, promotional pricing, dates, and times for brand-building demonstrations.
• Work with Operations Manager to utilize the Operations team to execute the Grocery Department.
• Work with the Marketing Team. Coordinate various brand-building culinary events.
• Ensure that the Company’s professional reputation is maintained.
• Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
• Manage damaged or expired products upon delivery with suppliers for credit.

REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays.
• At least 2 year's experience in a similar capacity.
