TITLE: Hancock County Career Center Director
EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive successful teaching experience at a CTE Career Center or High School level, preferably in more than one subject area and grade level.
- Successful experience as an administrator in a CTE Career Center or High School level preferred.

The Hancock County Career Center (HC3) Director will provide leadership and supervision in administering of HC3 in order to promote educational development and achievement of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law.

To provide leadership in program development and improvement, as well as in professional staff development.

Serves as chief administrative officer for HC3.

Promotes career and technical education throughout HC3, keeping informed of legislation and statistical data on local, state, and national levels.

Prepares the career and technical education budget, assists in the calculations and collection of transfer tuition, submits proposals for funding career and technical education programs, and provides data to the HC3 Board of Directors concerning receipts and disbursements.

Assists in developing and maintaining quality instruction through supervision, professional development activities, curriculum adjustment, supplying materials, and updating equipment and facilities.

Reviews and evaluates career and technical education programs, and periodically revises related procedures and practices.

Develops an operational liaison with community businesses and industry, which involves advisory committees, surveys, and workshops.

Assists and approves the processing of career technical education reports for HC3.

Prepares and submits reports for all state and federal career and technical education projects.

Prepares and submits both annual and long-range planning documents as required for state and federal funding.

Serves as the career and technical education contact for the Department of Education, the Indiana Commission of Vocational and Technical Education, and the Department of Workforce Development for Superintendents of HC3 school districts.

Collaborates with HC3 school administrators and other designated certified personnel on student selection, placement, and follow-up of career and technical education students.

Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the HC3 Governing Board may assign.

Pursues grant opportunities and donations that benefit career programs.

Plans and oversees the implementation of student recruitment initiatives for career program enrollment, job placement, etc.

Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the HC3 Superintendent or his or her designee may assign.

Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as Universal Design for Learning.

Knowledge of CTE curriculum and concepts.

Knowledge of high school graduation requirements and the role of CTE in these requirements.

Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision.

Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.

Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education.

Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.

Ability to develop and implement projects.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and community members.

Assist with K-12 career planning activities, student recruitment, and enrollment.

Assist with area student registration and orientation of students who are new to HC3 regarding procedures and educational opportunities.

Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time contraints.

Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance, and professional growth.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Requires the ability to sit up to 8 hours per day with intermittent occasional walking, standing, bending, and squatting.

Required to bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis.

Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading.

(Occasionally) Required to lift or carry supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment at a minimum of 35 pounds

May have to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather.

The work schedule consists of a minimum full school day, with occasional nights and weekends.

Occasional high to moderate levels of stress.
