The University of Nottingham is looking to appoint a Head of Service – Disability to manage the delivery and development of the University of Nottingham’s disability adviser team ensuring the delivery of high-quality disability guidance and advice to students and staff across the University.

This is a fantastic opportunity to manage a team through a disability inclusive project to address the gaps and needs of our students in order to develop inclusive knowledge and behaviours at the University.

We welcome candidates with specialist knowledge of support for a range of disabled students, including those with mental health difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions, sensory and mobility impairments and long-term medical conditions. You’ll work alongside a sister team of specialist tutors who support students with specific learning differences.

You’ll have the understanding of the nature and challenges involved in life at University and the ways in which disability can impact on study. The candidate will have a degree or a proven track record of extensive disability work experience. You’ll also have well developed negotiating and influencing skills and be able to work with highly sensitive information appropriately and operate with minimal supervision, prioritising and planning a busy workload.

We believe diverse teams will provide the best opportunities to be innovative and forward thinking. We welcome applications from everyone and value the varied perspectives and experiences that a diverse team can bring. If you enjoy the challenge of designing an inclusive University and working with a range of colleagues, then please apply!

At the University of Nottingham, we are committed to providing generous employment packages whilst supporting the well-being of our staff to help them reach their full potential. As a University employee, you will have an excellent choice of benefits and rewards, including access to fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with 30 days' holiday allowance and a highly attractive pension scheme.

This position is offered on a permanent basis. Hours are full time (36.25 hours per week); however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.
