as we wish to be treated. We are a family orientated company who continues to grow every year and are expanding again. We are currently looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic / Equipment Operator in our Bloomsburg, PA yard.

Summary:
The Heavy Duty Mechanic / Equipment Operator will be responsible for general supervision of the day to day operations & maintenance of the heavy equipment. Our goal is to process ferrous and non-ferrous scrap as efficiently as possible while promoting an environmentally compliant and accident-free workplace.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Heavy Equipment with Hydraulic & Electrical experience as well as familiarity with common scrap yard equipment including excavators, loaders, forklifts, bobcats, shears, balers, and other production related equipment. Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap a plus.

Responsibilities:

- Maintenance & Inspection of heavy equipment in a fast-paced environment with focus on equipment operation, efficient production, cleanliness and overall safety compliance.

- Manage the scheduling of maintenance to all yard equipment.

- Ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees

- Monitor operations to develop best, effective work process and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

- Loading and unloading scrap metal from trucks and customers using excavators, forklifts, skid steers, and loaders.
- Perform on-site heavy equipment operations including shearing and sorting material as well as prepare material for shipment.
- Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures.
- Ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees and customers.
- Other duties as assigned by the general manager.

Requirements
- Experience in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical repairs on heavy equipment and machinery.

- Ability to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.

- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency and have a willingness to work weekends and overtime as needed.

- Demonstrated experience & knowledge of technical equipment and in operating front loaders, haul trucks, excavators, skid loaders, etc.

- Manual dexterity to handle tools and the ability to move 50 pounds.

- Willingness to work in shop area and an out-of-doors environment in all types of weather.

- Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English.

- Ability to manage personal responsibilities in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service.

- Prior experience in a scrap yard or related environment a big plus.
