Overview
Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is an 881-bed quaternary care academic medical center that is a joint venture between Baylor College of Medicine and CHI St. Luke’s Health. Located in the Texas Medical Center, the hospital is the home of the Texas Heart® Institute, a cardiovascular research and education institution founded in 1962 by Denton A. Cooley, MD. The hospital was the first facility in Texas and the Southwest designated a Magnet® hospital for Nursing Excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, receiving the award five consecutive times. Baylor St. Luke’s also has three community emergency centers offering adult and pediatric care for the Greater Houston area.

Responsibilities
All CHI St. Luke's Health nurse residents receive ongoing professional and educational support from a team of education specialists, nursing leaders, preceptors and mentors. At the conclusion of the first year in practice, nurse residents report enhanced self-confidence in providing excellent patient care and function with practice that is in alignment with the CHI St. Luke’s mission, vision and values. Nurse residents sit on a variety of nursing councils and committees as they seek to progress and grow.

$33.00 - $52.80 /hour

Qualifications
The Nurse Residency Program is open to:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with an unencumbered license (upon start date) from the Texas Board of Nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required for Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center. Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required for all other locations.
- Educated at an accredited school of nursing with a preferred 3.0 grade point average
- AHA BLS Less than 12 months of professional nursing experience
- The program is designed to be one year in length.
