Select Sires, Inc. is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a HMS Support Specialist. This hourly, non-exempt position and reports to the Director of Herd Management Solutions. The candidate must be self-directed, detail-oriented, and organized.


Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Director of Herd Management Solutions and the PR/Communications Team to support the member cooperatives and dairy and beef producers with timely sales support as requested including:

  • Provide herd management product knowledge and sales support to member coops and dairy and beef producers via phone calls, emails, text messages, on-farm visits and/or any other communication methods
  • Oversee continuing follow-up communication when applicable
  • Marketing of Herd Management Solutions products by working with the PR/Communications team providing valuable input for their creation of marketing tools. This includes, but is not limited to, a professional publication advertising schedule and ads, technical data sheets, brochures/flyers, newsletter, resource guide, website content, email blasts, social media posts, videos, podcasts, and other sales support needs as requested by the member coops
  • Work with sales representatives and dairy or beef customers to coordinate, implement, and analyze data for on-farm trials
  • Work closely with PR/Communications team and Genetics Staff to unite marking concepts of animal performance goals and HMS solutions
  • Work closely with field personnel, coop staff, and PR/Communications team to create picture, testimonial, and sales rep libraries
  • Work closely with Director of HMS for on-farm product trials including coordination, implementation, and analysis
  • Promote HMS and company image by participating in agriculture exhibitions (trade shows), producer, and industry events
  • Oversee online account adjustments for online AI Beef Certificate transactions
  • Knowledge of CowManager® system and informational sourcing to better assist customers for improving overall animal health and productivity, including on-farm trial organization, implementation, and analysis
  • Develop core understanding of both HMS and genetic product lines
  • Perform other duties and special assignments as directed by supervisor

Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Basic knowledge of dairy/beef nutrition and calf raising
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Primarily Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Detail oriented; Results driven
  • Exceptional communication skills; both oral and written
  • Pleasant and positive attitude; ability to work as part of a team in a positive manner
  • Time management
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Problem solving abilities and self-motivated with strong work ethic
  • Pre-Employment physical & drug screen, and criminal history check
  • Complete with a passing grade the Select Sires required safety course.
  • Willing to travel domestically
  • Clean driving record
  • Agricultural background beneficial

Education/Experience:

  • Associates Degree in Agriculture - B.S. degree in Animal Science or related dairy/beef course beneficial
  • 2 years of animal health and/or nutrition including customer service, sales, or marketing experience

  • Stand, use of hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.


The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Work schedules and duties are subject to change to meet departmental needs. Occasional overtime and/or travel may be required. The work location is negotiable.
