Educates High School Juniors and Seniors on skills needed to be prepared for college or career after High School. Courses include ACT Prep, Seminar and Life Skills.

The instructor works with a team of teachers and advisors and utilizes the Naviance curriculum.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide daily instruction to High School students in College and Career Readiness, Social-Emotional Well-Being, Life Skills and Executive Functioning Skills
• Establish a safe and welcoming classroom environment for students with clear expectations and objectives for learning
• Create and execute coherent and detailed lessons
• Communicate with students and parents regularly about their progress and goals
• Provide guidance and support for students to complete graduation requirements including, but not limited to the Senior Project
• Work collaboratively with the High School Team, Advisors and Administration
• Plan, facilitate and participate in schoolwide events related to College and Career Preparation
• Support or facilitate college and career exploration plans for upperclassman
• Incorporate test preparation strategies and support for college readiness assessment programs, specifically the ACT

Job Requirements:

• Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Strong communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Programs and Apple devices and applications
• Ability to utilize technology tools such as a Student Information System, Grade Books, Electronic Communication, Online Curriculum and Learning Management System
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with a team
• Flexible, organized, positive professional conduct

Desert Heights Preparatory Academy is seeking an instructor for our 11th and 12th grade students to support them in their college and career readiness. This position is full time. A degree in education or academic counseling or experience in the field is preferred.
