About us

Our Highway Transport and Environment division has recently been reviewed to ensure the Service is able to meet the new Corporate Priorities and make sure we are able to provide the best service that supports the future needs of our customers and community.

An exciting opportunity has therefore arisen within the service with the creation of a new Highways Projects Team that will be focused on ensuring delivery of a multi-million-pound highways and transportation capital programme and projects that ranges from Active Travel initiatives, Electric Vehicle charging point rollout to large scale infrastructure projects linked to Trafford’s masterplans such as New Carrington.

Trafford is part of the Greater Manchester family and liaison with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is a key part of the role together with ensuring delivery of projects by our partner Amey through the One Trafford Partnership (OTP) contract.

About you
You will demonstrate experience in project management and a track record of successful delivery in complex environments related to highways or transportation service projects

You will bring interpersonal skills that will be required to liaise with key stakeholders and partners including Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), OTP design and delivery teams and council members to ensure delivery of challenging projects as part of the overall highways and transportation capital programme of work. You will be a team player forging positive working relationships will all members of the Highways, Transportation and Environment Service and other services within the council linked to the delivery of highways and transportation projects.

About the Role

You will be involved in the delivery council’s highway and transportation capital projects that are included in the capital programme. This will involve monitoring and liaising with the One Trafford Partnership project delivery team in ensuring schemes are delivered on time and to budget and that goals and objectives are met highlighting any risks to delivery and reporting to the Programme Manager at regular intervals on progress.

You will be working with multiple internal and external organisations including One Trafford Partnership, TfGM, developers and stakeholders.

You will get a chance to represent the council at appropriate GMCA and TFGM meetings to ensure Trafford is maximizing opportunities for funding bids, that projects meet entry requirements in line with agreed programmes of work and also meet our corporate priorities.

Additional Information

Attendance on site and at council meetings out of normal core hours
The role is agile and works from various base locations including the Town Hall, Stretford and the OTP depot at Tatton House, Wythenshaw and will also require you to be on site assessing works delivered by the contractor and enquiries received from members, stakeholders and residents.
