Minimum Qualifications :
Graduate student with a major or minor in public health or epidemiology and demonstrated familiarity with SAS, basic epidemiological methods, and presenting findings.

This position requires that the incumbent report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. HRI offers hybrid telecommuting arrangements.

Preferred Qualifications :
  • Completion of graduate-level coursework with a focus on data management and analysis in public health, statistics, infectious disease epidemiology.
  • Knowledge of communicable disease control. Knowledge of data analysis and data management.
  • Experience preparing abstracts and presenting research findings on calls and/or conferences.
  • Experience working with COVID-19 data.
Responsibilities :
The Hourly Project Assistant I will assist with communicable disease surveillance data tasks using SAS and collaborate with Quality Improvement and Performance Management (QIPM) staff to analyze data and develop reports.

The Hourly Project Assistant I will also assist QIPM staff with data validation, data cleaning tasks and research projects. Additionally, the hourly student will participate in QIPM and Bureau of Communicable Disease Control meetings.

The incumbent in this position will develop data management and analysis skills, as well as learn the day-to-day work of infectious disease epidemiology within NYSDOH.

The incumbent in this position may work up to 37.5 hours/week for up to three months; thereafter, the incumbent in this position may work up to 20 hours/week.
Conditions of Employment :
Hourly, grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
