Job IntroductionWe are currently recruiting for 1 Housekeeper to join our friendly, vibrant and professional team within Day Provider Services. The hours will be 20 hours per week Monday to Friday either 10-2pm or 11-3pm depending on our service needs. The housekeeping role is to provide an onsite housekeeping/cleaning service under the instruction of the Team Leaders and Operational Managers across two service centres, Tower Drive and Whaddon Way Day Centres. To prepare the day centres for the service users coming into the service and ensure the environment is safe and clean. The impacts and demands of the role.
Job holders will need to exercise ongoing physical effort as they will be walking, carrying, lifting etc for most of their working time.
As the focus of these roles is the performance of manual tasks using tools and equipment within acceptable time frames, job holders will need speed, dexterity and co-ordination to effectively carry out their duties.
Role Responsibilities

  • Prepare the service on a daily basis to meet the needs of the individuals attending day centres. This may include preparing rooms, kitchens and personal care areas in accordance with the individual support plans to ensure they are ready for the service users accessing the service
  • To carry out housekeeping/cleaning duties as directed by the Team Leaders, Managers or other designated person
  • To manage stock levels, inform admin when stocks need replenishing and keep the service stocks replenished.
  • To assist with the laundry for the Day Services ie clothing, towels etc
  • Operate machinery such as industrial washing and drying machines and ensure they are maintained in good working order, reporting any faults to admin.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy environment
  • Carry out cleaning duties across Day Services including activities rooms, kitchens, cookers, fridges etc, maintaining standards of food hygiene and following IPC (Infection Protection Control) standards.
  • Perform duties in line with Health and Safety and COSHH regulations and take action where hazards are identified, report serious hazards to line manager immediately.

Ideal Candidate

  • Have an understanding of Health and Safety Legislation and COSH regulations as well as IPC.
  • Have an understanding of Safeguarding, Confidentiality and be able to report concerns to a manager.
  • Most work will be quite routine in nature but there will be the need to make straightforward judgements about day-to-day choices where the jobholder will have little doubt what to do.
  • Be able to communicate with team members to relay important information.
  • Be an organised person who is able to manage their own workload and use own initiative.
  • Be able to work as part of team, working flexibly to reflect changes in service needs.
  • Aware of risks using electrical appliances.
