Position Summary:

The HR Generalist position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The HR Generalist serves as a consultant to management on human resources-related issues. The successful HR Generalist will act as an employee champion and change agent. The HR Generalist assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and business management, the HR Generalist seeks to develop integrated solutions. The HR Generalist formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. The HR Generalist maintains an effective level of literacy about the business unit’s financial position, its goals, plans and culture.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.

  • Partners with managers and coaches through Performance of routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, team members, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

  • Attends and participates in team member disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

  • Partners with HR Business Partners and Managers to identify and develop talent, grow team member skills, and ensure a succession plan for key positions.

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Strong understanding of HR processes and ability to achieve impact and influence through quality information, access and awareness.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Supports HR Business Partners, Employee Relations Solution Center and Managers as needed

  • Work hand-in-hand with the HR Business Partner to drive employee engagement.

  • Work on ad hoc projects such as creating reports, partnering with employee relations solution center, researching industry trends, etc.

  • Research, problem-solving and resolving escalated questions and inquiries from team members and leaders related to the various areas of Human Resources

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience in Human Resources. Experience in retail and/or retail operations is a plus

Acceptable Job-Related Experience: Experience supporting multi-site location, including multiple states is a plus. Service driven with strong customer orientation. Strong change management skills required with the ability to work with and positively influence peers and field leaders without significant management oversight. Ability to work well autonomously and with a team in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Other: Ability to travel (auto, airplane, etc.) as required, in geographic market which includes overnights, as needed. Generally, travel will not exceed 10%.
