Summary:
The HR Generalist will assist in leading and guiding the Human Resources functions in a multi-site manufacturing facility. Under the direction of HR Leadership, this position is responsible for managing the day-to-day Human Resources functions including positive employee relations, recruiting and selection, record keeping, and HR compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Directs recruiting activities including screening of applications and interviews of applicants for hourly positions
- Works closely with plant management, supervision and HR Manager in resolving and coaching employee performance or disciplinary issues and employee complaints
- Evaluate and advise on strategies that impact the attraction, motivation, development and retention of the people
- Maintain all employee records, keeping them up to date including administration within the HRIS
- Benefits coordination including assistance with open enrollment, employee inquiries, change in status and new hire orientation
- Documents and assists supervisors with documenting employee issues or potential disciplinary problems
- Manage exit interview process and associated reporting
- Investigates and responds to unemployment compensation matters
- Maintain knowledge of and ensure adherence to current legislation and various government regulations affective employment practices
- Serves as the subject matter expert for the leave of absence programs and interprets and administers leaves in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, etc.)
- Creates onboarding plans and educates newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures and regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in either Human Resources or a business-related field
- 3+ years’ experience in various aspects of human resources (staffing, employee relations and organizational development)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and experience using a HRIS data base and reporting application
- Ability to communicate with all levels of employees especially during difficult and challenging situations
Preferred Qualifications:
- PHR, SHRM-CP or other equivalent certification a plus
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
