The Human Resource Assistant/Payroll Clerk is responsible for the administrative support of day-to-day Human Resource operations and assists in the processing of bi-weekly payroll.

Responsibilities and Duties

Assist in the timekeeping process for all employees of the hospital to ensure proper and accurate calculation in Time and Attendance to assist the payroll process.

· Maintains a current understanding of the automated time/attendance system and its interfaces with other systems to ensure accurate and timely computation of payroll checks.

· Answers questions from employees/managers regarding time and attendance.

Assists in the preparation, communicates and maintaining of appropriate documentation for establishing employee benefit coverage, and updating employee benefit records to ensure compliance with benefit regulations and timely coverage processing.

· Assists in Open Enrollment.

· Responds to employees, provides follow up and assistance to employees regarding all aspects of the benefit process and benefit information.

· Assists in auditing employee benefit deductions and credits by verifying vendor billing statements and deduction registers to ensure proper billing and collection.

Assists with various aspects of the recruitment/selection process and new hire paperwork and orientation process.

· Handles employment application intake

· Responds to reference checks and verification of employment status

· Assists with the administration of new employee orientation and onboarding process.

· Maintains and assembles all required new hire paperwork and filing system.

Performs receptionist/customer related duties and miscellaneous support work for the Human Resources Director

· Answers department phones, takes messages and/or pages appropriately.

· Processes organizational retention programs as assigned by assembling awards or recognition materials and processing received information in accordance with defined programs.

· Assists employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures.

· Acts as a distribution center, as necessary, for various HR activities and programs.

· Assists the HR Director with HR projects.

Assists in processing the payroll and timekeeping process for all employees of the hospital to insure proper and accurate payment to employees.

· Accurately computes and enters payroll adjustments, additional pays and deductions into the payroll system on a timely basis

· Maintains a current understanding of the payroll and time/attendance systems and its interfaces with other systems to assure accurate and timely computation of payroll checks.

· Answers questions from employees/managers regarding payroll.

· Verifies input against daily reports and/or the payroll register.

Provides regulatory support and understanding in the area of all laws which impact HR practices by being knowledgeable regarding established state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

· Understands aspects related to laws which govern HR practices (including employment, payroll, & benefits) to ensure accuracy in the work produced.

· Maintains confidential personnel files and personnel actions.

· Maintains all HR records and files are up to date.

· Perform monthly audit on employee files to ensure all information scanned and saved accurately.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· High school grad required, Associate degree preferred

· Previous secretarial/clerical experience

· Previous experience working in a Human Resource Department preferred

· Effective knowledge and familiarity with word processing. Spreadsheet experience required.

· Must be able to handle multiple concurrent tasks

· Excellent organizational and customer service skills required

· Familiarity with employment & benefit regulations and practices highly desired

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
